We began in 1998 when a pilot project was set up with Reading Borough Council to provide a limited mediation service for housing tenants or neighbours of RBC tenants.  After two successful pilots, we developed a larger contract with RBC to provide mediation for up to 60 cases a year in Reading. 

Since then we have taken referrals from an increasingly wide range of agencies, including other housing associations, police services, and social service departments.  We have also pioneered the use of mediation between families and young people who are in danger of leaving home.  This aspect of our service has been steadily expanding and is now a significant proportion of our work.
